I'm so pleased to welcome Lauren to the blog today with her absolutely GENIUS idea leading to the creation of Thriftscape.

Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am the founder of Thriftscape, the secondhand search engine that allows you to search across all your favourite second hand websites and see all of the results in one place. So far we have eBay, Vinted, Vestiaire Collective, Shpock, Preloved, Re-Fashion and Oxfam on board.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA?

During the 2020 global Coronavirus pandemic, I found myself faced with the prospect of only being able to thrift online for the foreseeable future. As an experienced thrifter, I started to discover new second hand websites that even I didn’t realise existed, and whilst I loved having so many options for shopping secondhand, searching through them all began to be a bit of a struggle; this is when the idea for Thriftscape started to come together.

Wishing a resource like this existed sparked the idea to create it ourselves, with Sam in charge of the marketing, and Chris behind the technical development of the site.

Born out of a true passion in March 2021, we as a team are so excited to see Thriftscape grow and develop, and most importantly use ourselves.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
We have connected the best second hand selling sites into one search engine, making looking for clothes second hand so much easier, quicker and saving you money in the process, as we ensure you are finding the best deal!

Step 1 – Go to our dedicated search engine page.

Step 2 – Search for what you want to find, for example ‘Zara Bodysuit’

Step 3 – Compare results from eBay, Vinted, Oxfam and more! Set filters to narrow down your search to find the perfect item.

Step 4 – Click buy! You will be taken directly to the marketplace that you choose to complete your purchase as normal. You complete your purchase with the retailer, we just take the hard work out of finding the items.

WHAT BRANDS DO YOU HAVE ON BOARD?
We are proud to announce that we have 7 incredible secondhand brands on board so far. We have lots in the pipeline too, so the space will continue to grow and evolve.

  • eBay
  • Vinted
  • Preloved
  • Shpock
  • Oxfam Online Shop
  • Re-Fashion
  • Vestiaire Collective

HOW CAN SMALL / SUSTAINABLE COMPANIES BECOME A THRIFTSCAPER?

If you have seen our Thriftscapers page you will know it is a great place to find small and sustainable companies, from silk sleeping bonnets by SilkGenie, Sacha Beee with her recycled jewelry, to clothes swapping sites, and even eco conscious companies offering products such as reusable shaving and period products.

I really wanted to build the space up to be a hub of ethical and sustainable companies, so that if people are looking to make the switch from fast fashion/unethical products but don’t know where to start, they will have a whole range of options available in one place to help them start shopping with a conscience.

If you would like to get on board as a Thriftscaper, just get in touch at hello.thriftscape@gmail.com!

I CAN’T WAIT TO GET STARTED

No need to wait! We are live now, you can find us over on thriftscape.co.uk to get started. We hope you love searching as much as we do!

Happy thrifting!

Thank you Lauren!
